REMEMBRANCE SERVICE 2025

'Remembrance Day' marks the day World War I ended: 11:00am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. All staff and pupils of Afon Tâf High School attended a poignant 'Remembrance Service' gathering at the front of school prior to 11:00am on Tuesday 11 November 2025.

‘Remembrance Day’ is now generally recognised as a point of reflection to remember all those who gave their lives because of combat in different conflicts around the world since 1918. In a pupil-led service, representatives of each Year Group laid wreaths and plaques at the foot of our 'poppy field' which was sprinkled with wooden-oak crosses, overlooked by a WWI soldier in silhouette.

Head Girl, Ella, Head-Boy, Connor and other Prefects gave measured, poignant readings. The school choir gave renditions of ‘Abide With Me’ and ‘O God Our Help In Ages Past.' Year 8 pupil, Pippa, played ‘The Last Post' on the Tenor Horn, which preceded a well-observed 'two-minute' silence, respectfully met by every member of #TeamTaf.
The service was concluded with a hauntingly sweet a cappella version of 'We'll Meet Again' sung by Year 8 pupil, Niamh, ably supported by our school choir.

Da iawn pawb. You've done Afon Tâf proud... again.
